When one has a swimming pool they often think of what they can do with it such as going for a swim, cooling off during hot days, and hosting pool parties.
What many people don’t consider are the requirements that come with having a pool. These requirements include maintaining and securing the pool.
In Las Vegas, the requirements governing this is found in the Las Vegas Swimming Pool and Spa Code.
Placing barriers
Section 305 of the Las Vegas Swimming Pool and Spa Code relates to placing barriers around residential pools.
Gates and doors

Types of pool barriers that can be used
Section 305 also specifies the types of pool barriers that can be used. Options include wrought iron with picket spacing that prevents objects larger than 4 inches (101.6 mm) from passing through, solid barriers without openings or protrusions for handholds, and chain link fences with openings no larger than 1 3/4 inches (44 mm).
Specified maintenance
Maintenance is specified in 302.8 requiring that pools be maintained and clean in a sanitary condition and in good repair.
